I’m Susan Jane Moore. For a long time I had a very satisfactory life in Minnesota: a gorgeous old house in Minneapolis, work as a housing consultant and colorist, friends on the front porch, and cats who even got Christmas cards from the neighbors. I loved that life. And yet I wanted more.

More turned out to be the Katahdin, a 1981 Marshall Californian trawler in Santa Barbara Harbor. My tiny house is that boat — leaking diesel, harbor neighbors, Jackson the cat, cooking on 30 amps, and the practical math of living small on the water.
